boring.tax setzt genau hier an.

  • Zwei Anbieter, zwei Rechnungen: Buchhaltung hier, Steuerkanzlei dort.

  1. Öffentlicher Preis: Steht der Preis auf der Website, mit Rechner? Oder gibt es nur “Angebot auf Anfrage”?
  2. Leistungsumfang schriftlich: Buchen, Abstimmen, Monatsabschluss, UStVA, Jahresabschluss, Steuererklärungen: Was ist drin, was nicht?

4. Skalar

So unterstützt dich boring.tax

Outsourced Accounting for a GmbH at a Fixed Price: Providers 2026

You can get outsourced accounting for your GmbH at a fixed price from boring.tax starting at EUR 60 per month (software tier). With human bookkeepers, prices start at EUR 100 per month. The price calculator is public, and there are no surprise invoices.

Bookkeeping gets pushed aside because day-to-day business matters more. Then the firm’s invoice arrives, and it is higher than you expected. boring.tax combines AI agents for the routine work with human bookkeeping and its own tax firm at fixed, public prices. This article shows what to look for in fixed-price offers, which models exist, and what they really cover.

What is outsourced accounting at a fixed price?

Outsourced accounting at a fixed price means that an external provider takes over the ongoing bookkeeping of your GmbH and charges a predetermined amount per month or year, regardless of the actual time spent. What matters is the scope of services included in the price: plain receipt capture, a reviewed monthly close, the VAT return (UStVA), or also annual financial statements and tax returns.

This differs from the traditional model. Tax advisors bill under the German tax advisor fee ordinance (StBVV), which is based, among other things, on the value of the matter at hand. With a fixed price, you know in advance what will be on the invoice at the end of the year.

Why is a fixed price worth it for your GmbH?

As a managing director, you are liable for meeting deadlines, even if someone else does the bookkeeping. The VAT return is generally due by the 10th of the following month under § 18 UStG. Under § 325 HGB, corporations generally have to file their annual financial statements with the operator of the Federal Gazette (Bundesanzeiger) no later than twelve months after the balance sheet date. If you miss this, you can expect administrative fine proceedings under § 335 HGB. The amount depends on the size of the company; the statutory minimum is EUR 2,500 (see § 325 HGB and § 335 HGB).

An overview of all deadlines is in our article on deadlines for corporations.

Then there is predictability. Without a fixed price, the invoice fluctuates with the effort: more receipts, more follow-up questions, more extra line items. With a fixed price, you budget the cost like any other fixed expense.

This matters most for small teams without a finance department. You don’t want to check every month whether the invoice matches the service.

How does AI change outsourced accounting?

AI takes over the work that used to drive the time spent and therefore the prices: reading receipts, suggesting bookings, matching bank transactions. Humans come in where judgment is needed.

This is exactly where boring.tax starts. Receipts arrive via WhatsApp, email, upload, API or Qonto, and the bank is connected via finAPI. The AI books, and you review and approve. Reports such as BWA (management accounts), SuSa (trial balance) and GuV (profit and loss statement) are generated from the bookings.

Important for liability: nothing goes to the tax office without your approval. In the software tier, you prepare the VAT return in boring and submit it yourself directly to ELSTER (with your own manufacturer ID, since July 2026). In the tax firm tier, your tax advisory team submits it.

An article on the process: VAT return for SMEs.

What pitfalls come with fixed-price offers?

A low fixed price says little as long as you don’t know what is missing. These are the points that cause the most trouble:

  • Receipt capture instead of bookkeeping: Some packages only include capturing. Review, reconciliation and the monthly close cost extra.
  • Volume limits: Prices often depend on bookings or bank transactions. If your volume grows, the price rises.
  • Missing tax obligations: The VAT return, annual financial statements, corporate income tax, trade tax and E-Bilanz (electronic balance sheet) are not automatically included.
  • Two providers, two invoices: Bookkeeping here, tax firm there. That isn’t wrong, but you should know it beforehand.
  • Unclear liability: Not every provider is a tax advisory firm. Providers who are not allowed to give tax advice work with partners for the tax part.

One more point on the VAT return: as a GmbH, you can submit your return yourself through your own ELSTER account. If a third party submits the return for you as a client, however, that is professional assistance in tax matters, which under the German Tax Advisory Act (StBerG) is reserved for tax advisors and other authorized persons. So always ask who submits and in what role.

Which 7 criteria help you choose a provider?

Use these seven criteria to compare fixed-price offers properly:

  1. Public price: Is the price on the website, with a calculator? Or is it only “quote on request”?
  2. Scope of services in writing: Booking, reconciliation, monthly close, VAT return, annual financial statements, tax returns: what is included, and what is not?
  3. Revenue and volume limits: Up to what point does the price apply, and what happens after that?
  4. Who submits the VAT return? You, the bookkeeping team, or a tax advisory team?
  5. Liability: Is there a tax advisory firm with professional liability insurance behind it?
  6. Control: Can you see and approve bookings before anything goes to the tax office?
  7. Flexibility to switch: Can you choose more or less help without moving your data?

Criterion 7 is often underestimated. A founder may start alone with AI. With the first employee and the first tax audit, they wish they had a tax advisor. If they then have to switch systems, they lose weeks.

Which providers and models are there?

The information is based on public statements by the providers. Check prices on the respective websites before making a decision. The boring.tax prices match the pricing page (as of 25.09.2026); the information on the other providers is as of October 2026.

1. boring.tax

boring.tax is the platform for accounting and taxes for GmbHs and UGs without a finance department. You choose the tier and can switch at any time within the same account, without data migration. The prices are public (net, as of 25.09.2026) and can be verified in the price calculator.

  • Without a tax firm: EUR 60/month or EUR 600/year. The AI books, you review and approve, and you submit the VAT return. No corporate income tax/trade tax return, no advice.
  • With boring bookkeepers: EUR 100 / 200 / 300 / 400 per month for revenue up to EUR 100,000 / 250,000 / 500,000 / 1 million. Human bookkeeping and a reviewed monthly close; you submit the VAT return.
  • With tax firm + tax advisor (full package): EUR 335 / 520 / 705 / 890 per month in the same revenue bands. The tax advisory team submits the VAT return, prepares the annual financial statements, corporate income tax/trade tax returns and E-Bilanz, and advises you. You receive two invoices: one from boring and one from the tax firm.
  • Holding: EUR 500/year, plus EUR 100 per additional shareholding (among other conditions: at most 50 bookings per year, no operating business, micro-sized corporation).

Tax advice comes from boring.tax Steuerberatungsgesellschaft mbH in Stuttgart (since June 2026, EUR 4 million liability coverage) or a partner firm. More than 330 paying companies use the platform (as of August 2026).

Strengths:

  • Liable tax advice in the same account from its own boring.tax Steuerberatungsgesellschaft mbH or a partner firm, including the annual financial statements and tax returns
  • Fixed, public prices with a calculator
  • 14 days free trial, no credit card and no sales call
  • Holding and operating GmbH from one provider

Limits:

  • Revenue above EUR 1 million, marketplace sales, securities/crypto or more than 300 transactions per month are handled through an individual quote
  • Annual financial statements directly in the platform are announced but not yet live; the tax advisory team prepares them

Ideal for: owner-managed GmbHs and UGs that want a fixed price, AI-assisted booking and their own tax firm in one account.

2. Traditional tax firm

Billing under the StBVV or by individual agreement. Some firms also offer flat fees; the offering differs from firm to firm.

Strengths: personal advice, experience with complex cases. Limits: The price depends on the individual case and can often only be clarified in advance through a quote. Ideal for: complex structures with high advisory needs.

3. Mika

AI bookkeeping for GmbH and UG, by its own account without tax advice (which runs through partners). Prices depend on the number of bank transactions; according to the Mika website, they start at EUR 49 per month.

Strengths: cheaper than boring.tax at low volume. Limits: no tax firm of its own; the price grows with transaction volume. Ideal for: very small GmbHs with few transactions.

4. Skalar

AI-first tax firm from Munich with a fixed-price promise.

Strengths: tax firm and AI from one provider. Limits: according to the provider, no pure software entry for self-booking. Ideal for: founders who want a tax firm from the start.

5. Integral

Digital tax advisory from an auditing firm.

Strengths: tax advice and auditing under one roof. Limits: no published prices; quote on request. Ideal for: companies that plan to request an individual quote anyway.

6. DIY software (Lexware Office, sevDesk, BuchhaltungsButler)

You do the bookkeeping yourself. For annual financial statements and tax returns, you also need a tax firm.

Strengths: low entry costs, prices mostly public. Limits: You book yourself, and a tax firm is not part of the account. Ideal for: those who like doing their own bookkeeping and arrange the tax firm separately.

Example: What does it cost per year?

Example: a consulting GmbH with EUR 250,000 in revenue, two employees and around 120 bookings per month. All prices net, as of 25.09.2026.

  • With boring bookkeepers (up to EUR 250,000): EUR 200/month, so EUR 2,400 per year. You submit the VAT return yourself.
  • With tax firm + tax advisor (up to EUR 250,000): EUR 520/month, so EUR 6,240 per year, including VAT return submission, annual financial statements and tax returns. Payroll adds EUR 20 per employee per month, which is EUR 480 per year for two employees. In total, that is EUR 6,720 per year.

The difference between the two tiers is EUR 3,840 per year (EUR 6,240 minus EUR 2,400), excluding payroll. In return, the tax firm takes over VAT return submission, annual financial statements and tax returns. The scope is clearly defined, so the invoice won’t surprise you.

How boring.tax supports you

The bookkeeping runs in the background, and you review and approve. If you need more help, you add the next tier in the same account. If you need less, you go back one tier.

You bring receipts from your inbox and customer portals into the system with boring MCP. You prepare the VAT return in boring; how submission works is explained in Preparing the VAT return in boring.tax and submitting it to the tax office.

You stay in control: nothing goes to the tax office without your approval, and the data is stored in Germany.

And what if you want to keep your tax firm? Then you use the software tier and leave the annual financial statements and tax returns with your tax advisory team. The decision stays with you.

FAQ

What does outsourced accounting for a GmbH at a fixed price cost? That depends on the scope of services. At boring.tax, the software tier starts at EUR 60 per month, with boring bookkeepers the price is EUR 100 to 400 per month depending on revenue, and the full package with a tax firm is EUR 335 to 890 (net, as of 25.09.2026). Before comparing, always check whether annual financial statements and tax returns are included.

Are annual financial statements included in the fixed price? Not automatically. Many packages only cover ongoing bookkeeping. At boring.tax, annual financial statements are included in the full package with a tax firm and in the holding package, but not in the tiers below.

Who submits the VAT return? That depends on the tier. In the tiers without a tax firm and with boring bookkeepers, you submit it yourself; in the full package, the tax advisory team takes care of it. The due date follows § 18 UStG, and an overview is in our article on the VAT return for SMEs.

Do I also need a tax advisor? Not necessarily for ongoing bookkeeping. For annual financial statements and corporate income tax and trade tax returns, one makes sense in practice almost every time, because corporations have to file these electronically (E-Bilanz under § 5b EStG) and mistakes carry liability and back-payment risks. At boring.tax, a tax advisor is only included in the full package with a tax firm (EUR 335 to 890 per month, depending on revenue); the tiers without a tax firm and with boring bookkeepers include no tax advice and no corporate income tax/trade tax return. You bring in the tax advisory team in the same account when you need it.

Can I change tiers later? Yes, at boring.tax at any time within the same account and without data migration. This is an important criterion, because your needs change with growth and your first employees.

What happens if my revenue grows beyond the price band? You move into the next band. At boring.tax, these are EUR 100,000, 250,000, 500,000 and 1 million; above that, you get an individual quote after a conversation.

Can I try boring.tax first? Yes, 14 days free, with no credit card and no sales call. That way, you can check with your own receipts whether the process fits.
