  2. Mit boring-Buchhaltern: 200 EUR/Monat, also 2.400 EUR im Jahr. Menschen buchen, du übermittelst die UStVA.

So unterstützt dich boring.tax

Jeweils direkt an ELSTER (seit Juli 2026).
  5. E-Rechnung: Dazu machen wir hier keine Produktaussage. Prüfe den Funktionsumfang im Test.
  6. Preis: Erfüllt. Festpreis nach Umsatzband, öffentlich im Preisrechner.

Was kostet Accountable?

Accountable Alternative for GmbH and UG: boring.tax

Accountable suits self-employed people and freelancers who use EÜR (cash-basis accounting); for a GmbH or UG, boring.tax is the better choice: from EUR 60/month without a tax firm, and from EUR 335/month as a full package with its own tax firm.

You have a GmbH, but no finance department. The app built for self-employed people and freelancers hits a wall with you: balance sheet, corporate income tax, trade tax, E-Bilanz (electronic balance sheet filing). This page shows where Accountable is strong, where it ends for corporations, and how the platform solves that.

We checked Accountable’s prices on 14.10.2026 on Accountable’s official pricing page (as of 14.10.2026). The platform’s prices apply as of 25.09.2026.

What is EÜR, and why does it decide which tool you need?

The Einnahmenüberschussrechnung (EÜR, cash-basis income statement) is the simplified method of determining profit under § 4 para. 3 EStG (source: gesetze-im-internet.de): income minus expenses, without double-entry bookkeeping. It is meant for self-employed people and freelancers, not for corporations.

A GmbH or UG, by contrast, must prepare annual financial statements. This is governed by § 264 HGB (source: gesetze-im-internet.de): the annual financial statements consist of a balance sheet, a profit and loss statement, and notes. Small corporations are exempt from the management report. On top of that come the corporate income tax return and the trade tax return, including the E-Bilanz.

This is where the dividing line lies. Accountable describes its plans in terms of income tax, EÜR, trade tax, and the annual VAT return for self-employed people and freelancers. According to Accountable’s help article, the app is built for self-employed people with simplified bookkeeping; double-entry bookkeeping and annual financial statements for UG and GmbH are currently not supported, and only invoicing remains usable (as of 14.10.2026).

Overview: Accountable and the platform for GmbH and UG

Accountable

Accountable is an app for self-employed people and freelancers: write invoices, record expenses, connect your bank account, do your taxes. The plans are called Rechnungen Free, Rechnungen Plus, Buchhaltung, Steuern, and Max.

It is a clean, affordable product for exactly this audience. If you are a freelancer who wants minimal effort, you are in good hands there.

The platform for GmbH and UG

The platform is built for the bookkeeping and taxes of owner-managed GmbHs and UGs, including holding companies, without an in-house finance department. AI agents book your receipts; you choose how much human help you want on top.

There are three tiers in the same account: “Without tax firm”, “With boring bookkeepers”, or “With tax firm + tax advisor”, backed by its own tax advisory firm (Steuerberatungsgesellschaft mbH, with EUR 4 million of liability coverage). You can switch tiers at any time within the same account, with no data migration.

Prices net. Accountable: prices per month plus VAT, with annual or monthly payment respectively. Source: Accountable’s pricing page, as of 14.10.2026. Platform prices: as of 25.09.2026.

Example: GmbH with EUR 250,000 in revenue

A consulting GmbH with EUR 250,000 in annual revenue, two employees, and around 40 receipts per month has three options (prices net, as of 25.09.2026):

  1. Without tax firm: EUR 60/month, so EUR 720 per year with monthly payment. You review, approve, and submit the VAT return yourself.
  2. With boring bookkeepers: EUR 200/month, so EUR 2,400 per year. People do the bookkeeping, you submit the VAT return.
  3. With tax firm + tax advisor: EUR 520/month, so EUR 6,240 per year. This also covers the annual financial statements, corporate/trade tax, and the E-Bilanz.

Additionally in the full package: payroll for two employees, 2 × EUR 20 = EUR 40/month, so EUR 480 per year. That brings the full package to EUR 560/month, or EUR 6,720 per year.

Accountable Steuern costs EUR 29.90/month with annual payment, but it is intended for self-employed people and freelancers. According to Accountable’s help article, double-entry bookkeeping and annual financial statements for UG and GmbH are currently not supported (as of 14.10.2026). Accountable therefore does not cover this GmbH.

Strengths and limits

Where Accountable convinces

Where Accountable ends for you

Where the platform is strong

Where the platform is not a fit

Which solution fits when?

Choose Accountable if you are self-employed or a freelancer, report via EÜR, and want to do your tax return yourself.

Choose the platform for GmbH and UG if you run a GmbH or UG, have or will have employees, handle incoming and outgoing invoices, and have annual financial statements coming up. The same goes for holding companies and for founders who want to set up their company cleanly from day one.

Switching right now? If you were a freelancer and are founding a GmbH, the moment of incorporation is the right time to switch. If you set up the company in the platform from the start, you can later change tiers in the same account without data migration.

How boring.tax supports you

The “Without tax firm” tier costs EUR 60 per month (EUR 600 per year, net). The AI books your receipts, you review and approve. You prepare the VAT return and submit it yourself directly to ELSTER, using our own manufacturer ID (since July 2026). This is software, not tax advice; tax returns for the company are not included here.

If you want more people in the process, the “With boring bookkeepers” tier (from EUR 100/month) adds human bookkeeping and a reviewed monthly close. You submit the VAT return yourself here as well. The full package “With tax firm + tax advisor” (from EUR 335/month) has the tax advisory team handle VAT return submission, annual financial statements, and tax returns, also directly to ELSTER. You receive two invoices: one from the platform and one from the tax firm.

For how the VAT return workflow looks, see the article UStVA in boring vorbereiten und ans Finanzamt übermitteln. You can find all tiers and the fixed price for your revenue in the price calculator.

What should you look for in bookkeeping for your GmbH?

Seven criteria help with the choice:

  1. Legal form: The tool must support double-entry bookkeeping and balance sheets under HGB.
  2. Annual financial statements: Who prepares them, and what do they cost at a fixed price?
  3. Liability: Is there a tax firm with professional liability insurance that stands behind mistakes?
  4. VAT return (UStVA): Who submits, and when? § 18 UStG sets the deadlines (source: gesetze-im-internet.de).
  5. E-invoicing: Since 01.01.2025, domestic businesses must be able to receive e-invoices. The obligation to issue them applies from 01.01.2027 for businesses with prior-year revenue above EUR 800,000 and from 01.01.2028 for everyone (§ 14 UStG, source: gesetze-im-internet.de; details in the BMF letter of 15.10.2024 and the supplementary BMF letter of 15.10.2025).
  6. Price: Public, with a defined scope, without hourly rates.
  7. Switchability: Can you change tiers without moving your data?

Here is how the platform fares on each criterion:

  1. Legal form: Met. Double-entry bookkeeping with BWA, SuSa, and P&L; the tax advisory team prepares the balance sheet.
  2. Annual financial statements: Partly. Today the tax advisory team prepares them in the “With tax firm + tax advisor” tier (from EUR 335/month). Preparing the annual financial statements directly in the platform has been announced but is not live yet.
  3. Liability: Met in the tier with a tax firm: its own tax advisory firm has EUR 4 million of liability coverage. In the “Without tax firm” and “With boring bookkeepers” tiers, there is no tax advice.
  4. VAT return (UStVA): Partly. In the lower tiers you submit the VAT return yourself; in the full package the tax advisory team handles it. In each case directly to ELSTER (since July 2026).
  5. E-invoicing: We make no product claim here. Check the feature set during the trial.
  6. Price: Met. Fixed price by revenue band, public in the price calculator.
  7. Switchability: Met. Tier changes in the same account, without data migration.

For how to keep on top of deadlines, see the article Fristen für Kapitalgesellschaften; for invoicing obligations, see the overview of e-invoicing.

FAQ

Is Accountable suitable for a GmbH or UG? No, Accountable is aimed at self-employed people and freelancers. According to Accountable’s help article, double-entry bookkeeping and annual financial statements for UG and GmbH are currently not supported; only invoicing remains usable (as of 14.10.2026). A GmbH, however, needs a balance sheet and corporate and trade tax returns.

How much does Accountable cost? According to Accountable’s pricing page, the plans cost per month plus VAT (annual / monthly payment): Rechnungen Free EUR 0, Rechnungen Plus EUR 9.90 / 12.40, Buchhaltung EUR 19.90 / 24.90, Steuern EUR 29.90 / 37.40, and Max EUR 59.90 / 74.90. According to the FAQ, Max has a minimum term of 12 months (as of 14.10.2026).

How much does the platform cost for a GmbH? From EUR 60 per month in the “Without tax firm” tier. With boring bookkeepers you are at EUR 100 to 400 per month, and in the full package at EUR 335 to 890 per month, depending on the revenue band up to EUR 1 million (net, as of 25.09.2026). The price calculator works out the price for your scope.

As a GmbH, do I still need a traditional tax advisor, or is AI enough? The AI books receipts and assigns them to accounts; it does not prepare annual financial statements or tax returns. For that you need a tax advisory team. Here it comes from the platform’s own tax advisory firm in the same account.

Digital tax firm or traditional tax advisor: which fits a small GmbH? A digital tax firm fits if you deliver receipts digitally and want fixed prices. A traditional firm bills under the Steuerberatervergütungsverordnung (StBVV, German tax advisor fee ordinance; source: gesetze-im-internet.de), that is, by value of the matter and time spent. The platform charges a fixed, public price.

What alternatives are there to Lexware Office (formerly lexoffice) or sevDesk? Lexware Office (formerly lexoffice) and sevDesk are bookkeeping software that you combine with an external tax firm. One verifiable difference: the platform has public fixed prices, from EUR 60/month without a tax firm (software + AI agent, no tax advice) and from EUR 335/month in the full package “With tax firm + tax advisor”, with its own tax advisory firm and EUR 4 million of liability coverage in the same account (as of October 2026).

Can I switch from Accountable to the platform? Yes, as soon as you found or run a GmbH or UG. Start with the 14-day trial and your real receipts.

Ready to try it out?

If you are self-employed or a freelancer using EÜR, stay with Accountable. If you run a GmbH or UG, test the platform with your own numbers: 14 days, no credit card, no sales call.

Receipts in. VAT return out. That’s how tax should be: boring.
